BT is an active participant in European collaborative research and development and has participated in all the past EU Framework Programmes, primarily in the ICT/IST area. Within the current 7th Framework Programme BT is co-ordinating three projects and is a partner in ten other projects. The QUASAR team from BT has a strong background in emerging wireless networks and services, Cognitive Radio and industry consensus and will bring a service-provider and network operator perspective to the project, and hence is interested in the commercial feasibility of secondary spectrum and mainly the systems aspects.
